Visitors will be in awe of the mosque’s intricate tile work, marble floors, and wood carvings. Afterward, you will head to the capital, Rabat, where you’ll explore several historical landmarks. First, visit the Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret that was meant to be part of the world’s largest mosque, offering panoramic views of the city from its top. You will then visit the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the resting place of King Mohammed V and his sons, with its beautiful marble interior and serene courtyard. Next, explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortified citadel from the 12th century overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, where you can stroll through narrow streets and picturesque blue-and-white alleys. The day ends with a visit to the Royal Palace, which, though not open to the public, can be admired from the outside with its grand gates, ornate facades, and lush gardens. After this enriching experience, you will continue your journey to Chefchaouen for an overnight stay in the Blue City.
Chefchaouen, the “Blue City,” is a picturesque town nestled in the Rif Mountains, famous for its blue-washed buildings, narrow streets, and stunning mountain views. Explore the charming Blue Medina, the 15th-century Kasbah Museum, and the lively Outa el Hammam Square. Visit the serene Ras Elma Spring and admire the architecture of the Great Mosque and Spanish Mosque for breathtaking views of the city and mountains. Afterward, head to Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site with ancient Roman ruins, offering a glimpse into the past. The day ends in Fez, where you’ll explore the historic Medina of Fez, including the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, Bab Bou Jeloud, and the Chouara Tannery. In the Fez Jdid area, discover the Royal Palace, the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), and visit the Nejjarine Museum and traditional pottery workshops. Enjoy shopping in the vibrant souks before overnighting in Fez.
On Day 3, explore the fascinating city of Fez, renowned for its rich history and medieval architecture. Start with the UNESCO-listed Medina of Fez, a maze of narrow alleys and vibrant souks. Visit the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world, and the Bab Bou Jeloud, the iconic blue gate. See traditional leather production at the Chouara Tannery and marvel at the Medersa Bou Inania and Attarine Madrasa, both showcasing exquisite craftsmanship. In the newer part of the city, Fez Jdid, admire the Royal Palace and explore the Mellah, the Jewish Quarter. On Day 4, the journey from Fez to Merzouga Desert takes you through a diverse landscape, offering breathtaking views and historical experiences. First, pass through the Middle Atlas Mountains, known for their cedar forests, rugged peaks, and scenic valleys. Then, stop in Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” with its European-style architecture and lush alpine scenery. Continue through the Ziz Valley, a fertile oasis lined with palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Arrive in Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara, known for its fossils and the annual date festival. From Erfoud, head towards the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes, where you’ll experience the mesmerizing Sahara Desert.
